1. Choose your appliances
Check appliances you expect to run at the same time. Edit running and starting watts using your equipment's actual documentation or nameplate. Values below are placeholders.
Starting W is the estimated total demand while that appliance starts, not an amount to add to its running watts. For loads without a startup surge, enter the same value in both fields.
2. Selected generator & fuel
Choose a real model and its fuel to populate the calculation panel automatically. Select “Custom / manual ratings” to enter your own verified ratings.
When a catalog model is selected, its continuous rating is locked to the published fuel-specific value. Peak wattage is only populated where recorded and verified in this catalog; an unknown peak does not invalidate the running-load calculation. Use the generator's continuous rating for the selected fuel and conditions. For a panel connection, enter the applicable verified limit of the generator outlet, cord, inlet and transfer equipment; the lowest applicable limit governs. Leave blank if not established.
3. Compare real generator models
Manufacturer-published fuel-specific continuous output; model specifications are linked individually. Running utilization is calculated from your selected appliances. Browse & compare lists dated published reference prices from manufacturers and retailers; check the linked seller for current prices.

Portable receptacles listed here are not a verified home-connection rating. The 30A / 50A labels identify outlet types only; usable power also depends on the model's outlet-specific limits, cord, inlet, transfer equipment, leg balance and loads. Installed standby generators do not use portable 50A cords. Standby motor-starting kVA is not interchangeable with a portable generator's advertised peak watts.
